Epic Go-Live pushed to May 15, 2021

Due to the COVID-19 surge in Southern California, the Epic go-live for OCHD is being moved to May 15, 2021. This decision was made to reduce the stress currently on our caregivers and providers, enabling them to stay focused on patient and self-care during these unprecedented times.

While we know many are anxious to move to the Epic system, we hope this slight delay will ease the way for our caregivers, providers, patients, and community. Not only do we need all available staff here for our patients, but to prepare properly for go-live we also need time for appropriate training – something simply not reasonable to request at this time.

Training - While training details will follow, please note:

  • There will be no training in January as previously scheduled.

  • Online independent study (for those previously identified groups – Nursing (including CM/SWs, CNAs, Aides, MAs), Respiratory Therapists, and Providers) will now be available in early February.

  • All training sessions scheduled for February will be moved to virtual training.

  • Sign-ups for March and April classes will begin February 1.

  • All training will be either online independent study or virtual.

  • A task force is working on support for independent study and home computer/laptop.

Please be patient as the training team works diligently to finalize all details of the new training plan. These will be communicated once finalized.

All project work will continue as planned; appropriate adjustments will be made based on caregiver/provider availability.

FAQs

What will the training look like? Online independent study starting in February will consist of reading materials, interactive eLearnings, and/or recorded instructor led class videos and an online Epic User Proficiency Assessment (EUPA) - competency test to ensure understanding. We will provide additional support to those unable to pass the EUPA.

How will I access the online, independent study training? Your training modules will be assigned to you in HealthStream. The exact date when training will be available in HealthStream varies by group and will be communicated separately once details have been finalized.

Which classes will be virtual? All classes will either become online independent study or virtual directed classes. We are in the process of modifying all training and details will follow. We thank you for your patience.
